Dad would have been 91 today... but we have memories and his memoirs

It seems like yesterday that we had news of his death and here it is 11 years later! He was determined that he wouldn’t go into a home… ‘The government aren’t getting my money!’ and he stuck to his word. The government of the day were New Labour and Tony Blair was PM… and dad couldn’t stand him or what they’d all become.

It was only later, after we’d sorted out his effects that we found that he’d left his memoirs on his laptop. What I read showed me a father I hadn’t known… the WWII sections, his police service etc… he’d certainly kept it all to himself over many years.

So it was great to be able to get his memoirs of WWII in print so that he’ll even be remembered long after I have ‘shuffled off this mortal coil’.
